The Chow Chow is medium in size and comes in two coats: smooth and rough. They are sturdy dogs with broad heads and short muzzles. Two of the most recognizable features of the Chow Chow are their bluish/black tongue and high-set tail (which often curls over). They are approximately 18 to 22 inches in height and weigh 45 to 70 pounds. The Chow Chow does not always get along well with other canines, so they are not the best choice if you are looking for a dog park companion. They are quite intelligent and very protective. As with any dog, the Chow Chow should slowly be introduced to strangers, especially children. |
The Chow Chow needs a firm but kind owner who is willing to train. |
