Got a round hound? Dog obesity is on the rise and it is a problem that MUST be taken seriously. According to veterinarians, 25% of the dogs they see are over-weight. I'm the first to admit that I show love through food….so obviously, I need to make some major changes if I want my pups to live long, healthy lives. YOUR lifestyle can play a major role in your dog's health. It is a known fact that owners who exercise regularly and make healthy food choices tend to have healthier pets. |
Spoiling our dogs has become second nature. Too many treats and scraps from the dinner table often leads to extra pounds. Instead of fatty treats, give your dog baby carrots or rice cakes. It is also important to MOVE! Exercise is a must in order to keep Fido happy and in shape. Who knows…you just may lose a few pounds yourself! |
With obesity comes a host of possible canine health problems including arthritis, orthopedic and skeletal issues, diabetes, and heart disease, just to name a few. Remember, extra pounds on your pup will not only make him miserable it will reduce his quality of life and even his life span! |
