The center offers advice so that you too can have a trouble free pet! According to Dr. Pamela Reid, VP of the ASPCA Behavior Center, "Behavior problems are a leading reason people surrender cats and dogs to animal shelters. But most behavior problems can be resolved or significantly improved within a few months. Our goal is to help pets and their parents bring pleasure to each other's lives." Dr. Reid is a Certified Applied Animal Behaviorist who has assisted and helped many pet owners. For some of the problems she has dealt with, see the lists below. Top Pet Peeves - Dogs 1. Aggression to family members, strangers or children 2. Aggression over food, bones, or toys 3. Fears and phobias (such as thunder) 4. Destructiveness 5. Anxiety when left alone 6. Urinating or defecating in the house 7. Excessive barking 8. Compulsive behaviors such as excessive licking, tail chasing or pacing Top Pet Peeves - Cats 1.
